Look at the business case first

Moving to the cloud is useful when it improves access, collaboration, resilience, or cost visibility. It is not automatically better for every workload. Start with the problems your team needs to solve rather than a product list.

  • Document where files and applications live today.
  • Identify security, retention, and regulatory requirements.
  • Confirm internet reliability and offline-work needs.
  • Compare total costs, including migration, support, and training.

Plan a controlled migration

Use a pilot group, verify backups, and define who owns access decisions before moving critical data. A phased rollout gives the team time to test workflows and resolve issues without interrupting the whole business.

The project is complete only when permissions, recovery procedures, staff training, and ongoing administration are documented—not when the files finish copying.
